Are You My Neighbor?

Revised Cover Art
Are You My Neighbor?

Release Date:

February 1, 1995

Rating

Four Star Fruits Out Of Five

Review

Pros:

Contains one of only a handful of New Testament stories told by Veggie Tales.

The entirety of the first segment is told cleverly in Dr. Seuss rhyming technique.
Latest Revision

Animation is better than any prior Veggie Tales episode.

Larry finally stopped experimenting with his "low dopey" voice.

Closing scene of "Flibber-O-Loo" contains a drastic improvements in quality of score.

Closing scene of "Flibber-O-Loo" also contains at the time the most beautiful artwork in Veggie Tales history.

The most clever retelling of the Parable of the Good Samaritan I've ever seen.

The return of Silly Songs with Larry as a regular segment on the show.

The Hairbrush Song - arguably the most popular Silly Song in the history of Veggie Tales.
Poster Art

Introduction of the Peach.

Veggie Tales spoofs Star Trek.

Larry affirms the truth that caramel popcorn is way better than cheese popcorn.

A popcorn ball meteor.

The U.S.S. Applepies.

We are introduced to Jimmy and Jerry Gourd.

Scooter the Carrot is introduced.

We get to hear the song "I Can Be Your Friend" for the first time ever.

Junior refers back to the "slime monster" from the first episode.

Cons:

The blue sky turns black for awhile for no apparent reason in "Flibber-O-Loo."

Larry no longer has his "low dopey" voice, but instead has chosen to amplify his lisp.

Scooter has a big green stalk sticking out of his bottom in some scenes, but not in others.

Jerry's headset suddenly disappears and then reappears in one scene.

We have to wait for Jimmy and Jerry to sing the chorus to "Meet Me In Saint Louis" twice before Junior begins speaking to them about apparently nothing related to the immediate danger they are all in.

We are also forced to listen to Jimmy and Jerry sing "The Muffin Man."

Scotty was apparently the only Star Trek character anyone could remember when the story spoofing Star Trek was written.
